Range Rover Evoque Global Drive App

Client: Jaguar Land Rover Category: Mobile Services: UX / UI / Design

Supporting a two day drive from Holyhead in North Wales to the JLR Halewood plant in Liverpool for over 100 journalists and key personnel from the motoring industry, Available in 9 languages.

To support the global launch of the Range Rover Evoque, Jaguar Land Rover invited journalists to essentially ‘road-test’ the car in a two-day driving adventure. The journey from the tip of North Wales to their plant in Halewood would take the journalists and the car through beautiful B-roads, impressive scenery and some challenging terrain.

The bespoke app was designed to introduce the new marque, detailing its inception from concept to reality. It featured interviews with key members from JLR to tell this story, through a mixture of video clips and image galleries all aspects of the car would be available to get a full understanding of its story. The app also detailed the complete drive, things to look out for and what they could expect to discover over the two days.

Site map / Wireframing

Initial site maps where produced to decide how best to structure the information within the app. This was then developed into more detailed interactive wireframes to make sure the users could easily access the information about the drive, including an interactive map of their route but also all the relevant information on the Evoque and the technical developments of the car.

Design System

A design system was created for the app, with each country having it’s own associated colour palette. Various graphic devices and UI elements were created, however the app was iOS only and pre-installed on supplied iPads meaning these could be designed solely to work within a specific resolution. Even though changing the language was handled through the tech, many multi-language elements were created to keep a consistent visual design.

Booklet

Alongside the app, each journalist or reporter was also given a (four page concertina) booklet that detailed key stops along the drive. The booklet was also translated into all nine languages.
