Brand heritage film

Client: Mizuno Category: Motion Services: Storyboard / Animation / Production

Telling the story of Mizuno’s rich authentic Japanese heritage, famous sporting legends and its technical innovations from 1906 to the present day.

Established in 1906 in Osaka, Japan, Mizuno has a rich heritage growing from a single sports store to a global brand, favoured by sporting legends such as Ayrton Senna and Carl Lewis. This short film tells that story, highlighting their technical innovations over the years.

To reflect the brand a Japanese inspired calligraphy brush stroke was used to connect key moments in the timeline, with ink patterns used to reveal content, keeping one continuous dynamic to the film.

Brand Look and Feel / Storyboard

Taking inspiration from their brand book, archive imagery alongside contemporary product shots were combined to create a narrative that was married to a voice over. The concept for the film was to have a constant calligraphic line, drawing on screen that the camera would follow to represent a visual timeline. An initial sketched storyboard was created before any animation or design layouts began.
